Mission Control, one click awayComing soon

Every desktop on your Mac,
one click away.

MacDesk is a tiny floating panel built for switching desktops on a Mac you've connected to remotely. Over Screen Sharing, swipes and Control-arrow are caught by your own Mac first, so the remote Mac's desktops barely move. Run MacDesk on that Mac and its desktops line up as numbered buttons — click one and you're there. It also switches between Korean and English input with a single shortcut.

01 The panel

Small enough to leave open all day

MacDesk is one compact window with two rows. The top row holds the tools; the bottom row shows one button for every desktop you have, with the current one filled in.

Mission

Opens Mission Control so you can see every window and desktop at a glance.

한

한 / EN

Shows which input you're typing in right now. Click it to switch between Korean and English.

Keyboard menu

Choose the shortcut for Korean/English: Option+Space or Option only.

Pin

Keeps MacDesk above other windows. It's on by default; click again to let it sit behind them.

Refresh

Reloads the desktop list after you add or remove a desktop in Mission Control.

1

Desktop buttons

One per desktop, numbered in order. The filled one is where you are now.

02 Switching desktops

Jump straight there, or step one at a time

Click a number, land on that desktop

From Desktop 1, clicking 4 takes you straight to Desktop 4 in one smooth slide — not four separate hops.

With MacDesk in front, press ← or → to move one desktop at a time.

Using more than one display? Desktops are numbered across all of them in order, and the arrow keys stay on the display you're on.

Switch some other way — a trackpad swipe, ⌃→ — and MacDesk follows along within a third of a second.

03 Korean ⇄ English

Switch input without reaching for the menu bar

Two shortcuts to choose from

Option+Space — hold Option and tap Space.

Option only — press and release Option by itself. Combinations like ⌥⇧ or ⌥E are ignored, so Option keeps working as usual for special characters and other shortcuts.

Either shortcut works even when MacDesk is in the background, and the 한/EN button always shows which one you're in.

Two input sources needed. MacDesk switches between Korean 2-Set (두벌식) and ABC. Add both under System Settings → Keyboard → Text Input → Input Sources.
04 Always there

It follows you from desktop to desktop

On every desktop

The panel comes with you when you switch, so it's always there for your next click.

Next to full-screen apps

MacDesk can sit alongside a full-screen app, so you can get out of it with one click.

Knows which Mac it's on

The title reads MacDesk - your computer's name, useful when you're screen-sharing into several Macs.

05 Permissions

Two permissions and one setting

MacDesk moves between desktops by pressing macOS's own “Move left/right a space” shortcuts for you. For that it needs:

Accessibility — to switch desktops

macOS asks the first time you click a desktop button. Turn on MacDesk in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, then click the button again.

Input Monitoring — for the 한/EN shortcut

Lets MacDesk hear Option+Space while other apps are in front. Turn it on in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Input Monitoring, then quit and reopen MacDesk.

Keep the Mission Control shortcuts on

In System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts → Mission Control, leave Move left a space (⌃←) and Move right a space (⌃→) enabled. They're on by default.

06 Shortcuts

Keys worth remembering

← →

Previous / next desktop, while MacDesk is in front.

⌥ Space

Switch Korean ⇄ English, from any app.

⌥

Tap Option alone to switch, if you chose “Option only”.

07 Getting started

Up and running in a minute

Move MacDesk to Applications and open it

The panel appears with a button for each of your desktops. Need more desktops? Open Mission Control, press +, then click MacDesk's refresh button.

Click a desktop and allow Accessibility

macOS asks once. After you allow it, click the number again and you're on your way.

Turn on Input Monitoring for the 한/EN shortcut

Allow it in Privacy & Security, quit and reopen MacDesk, then pick your shortcut from the keyboard menu.

Seeing “The Space did not change”? The Mission Control shortcuts are probably turned off or changed — switch ⌃← and ⌃→ back on under Keyboard Shortcuts → Mission Control.
